2025 FSXC 5k-ish Week 12 Results

Course Direction: Clockwise (5.3k)

2025 Season Champions Awarded!

Matt Shea pulls it off! His strategy was to run it fast and get as many points as possible. He did – 2nd overall in the race. Behind him, Zach Elinich was marking Nancy Oswald and Tim Murray. But eventually, Elinich dropped off both of them and finished down in 25th. His goal was to drop into 5th, but, unfortunately for the 2024 champion, he overshot his mark and finished 6th overall.

But the big story of the night for Fifth Street Cross is that we have the first woman to make the top 5 overall, with Nancy Oswald finishing in 3rd. Oswald played the game all season, from FSX Summer Camp to the predictor runs to Halloween to the final nights. Oswald never won a race, but was always consistent every week and was able to use the comeback opportunities to her advantage. Big congrats to her, and we hope she’ll serve as an inspiration to more women who want to challenge for the overall.

In the Women’s overall, 2024 champ Rhiannon Davis fought diligently to hold 5th again, but she knew she was up against a big challenge this year. And indeed, the challenge was brought throughout the field of 20 women on the final night. Sue Connolly knew she had to run well, or at least consistently to her history. But it was Kristen Roosa-Beck who had the hardest strategy to pull off, yet she almost did. Roosa-Beck had to finish behind Connolly, but was worried about the points gap back to Davis. Roosa-Beck didn’t want to fall to 6th, so she kept Connolly close and placed right behind her. As it played out, Roosa-Beck needed one more woman between herself and Connolly to drop to 5th as she ended up 4th by one point. However, her tactics were not incorrect – had she let three or four women place between them, she might have overshot Davis. All in all, another thrilling finish to our 5k-ish series! Thanks to Keystone Running Store for helping us make it all possible!
