schedule

Thursdays from October 8 to December 17, with a few exceptions thrown in to work around Halloween and Thanksgiving. We hold 2 races a night. The first, which starts at 6:30 pm and is 20 minutes plus a lap (which usually ends up being 30 minutes because our judges are viscious), and the second, which starts around 7:17 pm, is 15 minutes plus a lap. There is about a ten-minute break in between.

Dec. 12-13: The 24 Hours of FSX

Dec. 17: Merry Crossmas (final night of racing)

The course layout will change every week or so, just to keep things interesting and to make sure the technical guys can whomp the pedalers one week and the mudders get their shot against the roadie transplants and all that.

There will be a shortcut every week, and it's open to everyone but never free and you never know what the toll for taking it will be. (Though it's never money.)

There are often special events through the season: In the past, the most popular have been Belgian Night (hosted by Jeremy and Amy, who serve everyone piping hot waffles and frites); Cross-Dressing, our Halloween-themed event in which costumed riders get a head start; Thanksgiving Leftover Daytime Blowout, which generally includes a Backwards Race, a Race for People Who Never Race, and a Kids' Race.

Cyclocross Racing Season
Typically an Autumn and Winter sport, the season starts in September and runs until February with World Championships occurring in late January.

Because a season spans two calendar years seasons are often referred to as both years that they span; such as the 2005-2006 season, as simply saying 2005 could imply late 2004-2005 or early 2005-2006 (this is less of an issue outside Europe in countries such as Canada and the US where the national championships happens in November and December respectively and racing tapers off dramatically after that).

Due to the placement of World's a rider's cyclocross racing age is always one year older than their road racing age. -from Wikipedia
